Ross Taylor was seeing the ball well in Hamilton - enough to score his 16th test century.

Ross Taylor has shared a gruesome picture of his left eye, prior to his operation on it this week.

The Black Caps batsman was initially in doubt for the second test against Pakistan at Hamilton, which New Zealand won by 138 runs, due to his troublesome peeper.

Taylor has been struggling with a growth on his left eye, but that didn't stop him scoring an unbeaten 102 off 134 balls to fire New Zealand into a winning position at Seddon Park, before the bowlers skittled Pakistan for 230 to seal victory in a dramatic final session.

"Off to get my Pterygium removed," tweeted Taylor, who will miss the Chappell-Hadlee ODI series against Australia in December.

Taylor's ton was his 16th test century, which ended a lean streak where he had failed to pass 50 in 11 consecutive test innings, stretching back to the 2-0 test series win against Zimbabwe in August.
