The nineteenth series of Gone Fishin’, hosted by Graeme Sinclair, kicked off on October 15 with a new naming rights sponsor - Trade Zone.

First up was a Hauraki Gulf mission chasing snapper, before a break on October 22 for the Rugby World Cup, followed with episode 2 hosted by NZ Fishing News contributor and Wellington charter operator, Pete Lamb.

The list of programmes, which can be viewed on Saturdays at TV3, 5.30pm, are outlined by Graeme as follows…

Episode 2, Wellington (Saturday, October 29, 2011): Pete Lamb Fishing Charters has been operating in and around the Cook Strait for many years. In this episode we target groper and bluenose, and catch a monster kingfish.

Episode 3, Kaipara Harbour (Saturday, November 5, 2011): The Kaipara Cat operates out of Helensville and fishes the harbour right out to the Graveyard. We focus on gurnard, learn how to catch and skin them, plus get a few safety tips. The Kaipara is one of the largest harbours in the Southern Hemisphere.

Episodes 4 & 5, Queen Charlotte Sound (Saturday, November 12 and Saturday November 19, 2011): Fishing with Charter Connection, on-board MV Tory. A real tour of the Sounds targeting blue cod; visiting New Zealand King Salmon; dredging scallops; cooking a feed; and getting a history lesson.

Episode 6, Kaikoura (Saturday, November 26, 2011): My grandfather was a commercial fisherman here, and my father was born in Kaikoura, also home to seals, dolphins and whales. We learn about the paua seeding program, haul in a few crayfish, eat deep water clams, and use electric reels to catch fish.

Episode 7, Akaroa (Saturday, December 3, 2011): Roger Beattie is a true entrepreneur. He is growing paua pearls, harvesting seaweed, farming weka, and extolling the virtues of Pitt Island wild sheep. Blue cod round out the menu.

Episode 8, Hauraki Gulf (Saturday, December 10, 2011): The snapper are here! Join Terry Williams-King and John Eichelsheim with a few tips on catching snapper over the summer.

Episode 9, Port Chalmers Seafood Festival (Saturday, December 17, 2011): We start by catching a feed of whitebait, gather Kiwi clams, and then head off to the inaugural Port Chalmers Seafood Festival. This includes a kids fishing event, and culminates with Judith’s Seafood Chowder.

Episode 10, Alexandra (Saturday, December 24, 2011): We secure a couple of fallow deer, catch koura (freshwater crayfish) in the local creek, join Steve Toyer from Clutha River Cruises for a history lesson, and catch trout. Central Otago is magnificent.

Episode 11, Far North (Saturday, December 31, 2011): Surfcasting in the Far North. Land-based fishing in the Far North can be devastatingly productive, accompanied by some breathtaking scenery.

Episode 12, Fiordland (Saturday, January 7, 2012): A frolic in Fiordland chasing deer with Richard ‘Hannibal’ Hayes, chatting with the ‘Moose Man’ Ken Tustin, catching trout on the Waiau, and watching the anglers of tomorrow on Lake Henry.

Episode 13, Diversity (Saturday, January 14, 2012): How good can the fishing be in an Auckland summer? It doesn’t get much better than this. We test a variety of different techniques all designed to improve your snapper fishing.
