New Zealand striker Chris Killen is hoping to get more time on the field ahead of this year's World Cup football finals after signing with English Championship club Middlesbrough.
The 28-year-old, who had been with Scottish club Celtic, moved on a free transfer, with his contract running until the end of the season.
He told Radio Sport he was hoping the move would give him some game time ahead of June's World Cup.
"The way it was in Scotland, it didn't look like I was going to play for the rest of the season, so my thinking was I needed to get out and get playing. Luckily enough such a good club has offered an opportunity for me to go and play."
The move reunites Killen with former Celtic coach Gordon Strachan.
