Gianfranco Zola has agreed a three-year deal to become the manager of West Ham United.

Although there was no official confirmation from the Premier League club that a deal had been agreed, the reports said he had agreed to take over from Alan Curbishley who resigned because of too much board interference.

The Daily Express said Zola, the 42-year-old former Chelsea and Italy forward, was expected in London on Friday to sign the deal and Sky Sports News also reported that a contract had been agreed.

Zola, who has been working as the assistant coach of the Italy Under-21 side, is due to be officially unveiled at Upton Park on Friday or Saturday before West Ham meet West Bromwich Albion in the Premier League on Sunday.
