All Whites striker Jeremy Brockie's golden goal scoring run continued as the Wellington Phoenix drew 1-1 with A-League newcomers Western Sydney in a pre-season clash in Christchurch this afternoon.

Brockie seized his first chance to score in the 47th minute to grab the equaliser against the Western Sydney Wanderers to net his 15th goal of the pre-season campaign before 6500 fans at Christchurch's AMI Stadium..

The Wanderers went ahead with a first-half freekick by midfielder Aaron Mooy.

The Phoenix started former Belgium international striker Stein Huysegems up front alongside Brockie but the pair were starved of quality service in disappointing first half by the New Zealand side.

They  failed to put any pressure on Western Sydney keeper Ante Covic, who was barely troubled to pluck a high ball off Brockie's head in the Phoenix's most promising attack in the  opening 45 minutes..

The Wanderers were hardly much more dynamic, leaving striker Dino Kresinger as a lone ranger on attack. But they snatched the lead in the 27th minute after winning a free kick about 25m out from goal.

Mooy shaped to go for the far post but instead clipped the ball inside Mark Paston's near post for a neatly-struck goal.

The Phoenix looked a different team immediately after the interval, swarming straight onto attack to force an early corner.

Western Sydney failed to clear their lines and Brockie, who scored nine A-League goals for the Newcastle Jets last season, seized on to a pass from the right flank and lashed the ball past Covic for a 46th-minute equaliser.

Covic had to dart off his line four minutes to pluck the ball off Brockie's bootlaces.

Mooy lined up another  free kick for the Wandereers but this time Paston was alert to the near-post danger.

Western Sydney substitute Mark Bridge charged on to a long ball by Mooy  but could only direct his shot straight at Paston.

Brockie had the crowd on their feet again in the 75th minute when he burst past former  Newcastle teammate Nikolai Topor-Stanley down the right flank and cutback a tracer-bullet cross into Western Sydney's goal box. But young Phoenix substitute Tyler Boyd could not steer the ball home from close range.

Brockie looked set to grab a double with a shot on the turn but the ball was cleared off the line by defender Iacopo La Rocca.

The Phoenix fielded new signing, Panamian striker Ricardo Clarke, for the final 20 minutes. The 19-year-old only arrived in Christchurch yesterday morning after a long  flight from South America.
