Moss faces surgery for stomach muscle injury
Wellington Phoenix reserve goalkeeper Glen Moss potentially faces surgery after being diagnosed with a stomach muscle injury and has been replaced in the squad by Victorian State League stopper Griffin McMaster.
Moss, who has sat on the bench behind fellow All Whites custodian Mark Paston since joining the club from the now defunt Gold Coast United at the end of last season, will consult a surgeon need week but indications are he will require an operation.
McMaster has signed a three-week contract which will be extended if Moss is scheduled for surgery.
It is the second time McMaster has stepped in to help out the Phoenix, though he has yet to make an A-League appearance for the club.
In 2010 he spent two months at the club as a replacement for reserve keeper Reece Crowther as he recuperated from a rib injury.
McMaster arrives in Wellington tomorrow and will be on the bench for Sunday's ninth round clash against Western Sydney Wanderers at Westpac Stadium.
