Wellington Phoenix coach Ernie Merrick has made three changes to his squad for tomorrow night's A-League clash with the Central Coast Mariners at North Sydney Oval.

Attackers Tyler Boyd and Leo Bertos come in along with midfielder Matthew Ridenton, while Michael Boxall, Jason Hicks and Josh Brindell-South drop out.

Merrick said the changes were designed to freshen up his bench, and he would roll out the same starting XI that lost 2-1 to Brisbane Roar on Saturday.

Star playmaker Carlos Hernandez (quad) played a limited part in training this morning but Merrick said the Costa Rican should be OK to play.

The Phoenix are ninth and yet to win a game, with four draws and five losses to their name.
