You'd forgive San Jose Earthquakes goalkeeper David Bingham for wanting a fault line to open up and swallow him whole.

In his latest game, against Sporting Kansas City, Bingham blundered in scoring the weakest of own goals, doubling the lead of the opposition side.

Faced with a tame effort from outside the box, which was heading wide of the goal no less, Bingham allowed the ball to go through his legs and deflect into the net.
