World No 2 Kiwi golfer Lydia Ko is poised for a final-round charge at the Marathon Classic in Ohio tomorrow.

After three rounds. she was lying in fifth place just two shots behind the leaders, emergent South African Lee-Anne Pace and American veteran Laura Diaz. They were 11 under par.

After Ko's two opening rounds of four-under par 67 at the Highlands Meadow Golf Club to be in a tie for second, she could only post a 1-under 70 early today when most of the top 30 players had scores in the  60s on the par 71 course.

She had two bogeys on par fours, but of her three birdies, two came on the final two holes, both par fives.

Ko, 17, had been paired with 39-year-old Diaz, a 15-year veteran on the LPGA Tour, but whose world ranking was 231. Her ascent at Highlands Meadows came thanks to a 9-under 62 in the opening round.

Ko was seeking her fourth title on the LPGA Tour to close in on the world No 1 ranking.

The other threats ahead of her at 10 under were American Jaye Marie Green and the 2012 tournament winner, South Korean So Yeon Ryo.

Among those a shot behind Ko at 8 under were British Open champion Mo Martin and American pro Brooke Pancake.

Would you be happy to pay for PGA Tour coverage online?

Absolutely. I'll do whatever it takes to watch golf.

It depends on how good the service is.

If it's not on TV, I won't watch it.

What? The PGA Tour's not going to be on Sky TV?
