The prospects of Elin Nordegren divorcing Tiger Woods over the golfing great's extramarital affairs seems to be gaining momentum.
Separate reports out of the US this morning (NZ time) suggest that Nordegren is preparing for a permanent separation in the New Year.
An unnamed friend told US television station MSNBC that Nordegren is "not going to be one of these 'stand by your man' women''.
"She's a strong woman, this is beyond embarrassing, and she has a daughter and son she has to think about, who will know about this one day."
Adding strength to the divorce plan suggestions was another unidentified source reported by People Magazine saying Tiger's wife had already met a divorce lawyer to discuss her pre-nuptial agreement.
"She's made up her mind. There's nothing to think about: he’s never going to change,'' the magazine reported the friend as saying.
The New York Post reported that Nordegren had been seen out in public twice this week, without her wedding ring.
"She's making plans to move out and take the kids with her," the Post quoted another unnamed source as saying. "She's planning to go somewhere warm and Tiger-free for Christmas."
Meanwhile, Britain's Telegraph newspaper reported a removals van took away some carefully wrapped pieces of art today from the Woods family home in Florida.
Woods' private life has been under intense scrutiny since an early morning crash while driving his SUV outside his Orlando, Florida, mansion on November 27.
Since the crash at least 14 women, including two porn stars, have either been identified, or claimed to have been, former lovers of golf's number one player. Woods has admitted "infidelity" and has not been seen publicly since the crash while there have been reports he has bought the silence several girlfriends.
MSNBC reported several unnamed women had said Woods gave them monthly sums ranging from US$5000-US$10,000, with some believed to have received as much as US$20,000.
"The money comes via a wire transfer. There's no contract about it, there's no discussion about what it's for, but it's implied that it's in exchange for keeping quiet about his affair," one of the women told the TV station.
The New York Daily News has reported that the couple will spend Christmas apart, with Nordegren and their two young children returning to Sweden while Woods will holiday with some male friends.
"He's talking about going away with two or three of his friends, just the boys," an unidentified friend told the NY Daily News who added Woods "still can’t believe this is happening."
