Taiwan's Yani Tseng had a premonition the night before she was going to play well in the final round of the Women's Australian Open - just not well enough to win.

Tseng was aiming for second place on Sunday and was taken by surprise as the putts started dropping from all over the Commonwealth Golf Club layout.

She was constantly checking with her caddy in disbelief but the 21-year-old world No 6 indeed ran over her rivals with a brilliant last round 66 to win by three shots.

Tseng finished nine under the card to beat British defending champion Laura Davies, who birdied the last two holes to shoot 71 and take outright second at six under.

One shot back at five under was overnight leader and four-time champion Karrie Webb, who fired a final round one-over-par 74, while at four under were Katherine Hull (72) and Italian Giulia Sergas (74).

From the seventh to the 14th Tseng benefitted from an eight-shot swing; she put together five birdies while Webb dropped three shots.

The win was Tseng's fifth worldwide - the highlight was her victory in the US LPGA Championship in 2008. This is her first victory since the LPGA Corning Classic in the US in April last year.
