Geoff Ogilvy has finished one of his longest days with a 6-under 65 at the PGA Tour's Transitions Championship after flying home to Arizona thinking he had missed the cut.

Ogilvy realised yesterday evening he should stick around when the cut line moved.

But the Australian couldn't get his golf bag off the plane, so he had to fly to Phoenix, then turn around and fly back to Tampa for an early Sunday tee start.

Ogilvy says he spent less than an hour in Phoenix, never leaving the airport.

His wife, Julie, went out to the airport to deliver him golf shoes because the former US Open champion had shipped his home.
