Tiger Woods has reportedly come clean about his sordid past to new girlfriend Lindsey Vonn.

The shamed golfer has been tight-lipped about his personal life in the wake of his divorce from his ex-wife Elin Nordegren.

The couple ended their six-year marriage in 2010 after it emerged he cheated on the Swedish model, with whom he shares two young children.

Over a dozen women came forward with allegations they had been intimate with the golfer, further tarnishing his name.

Three years later Woods is doing his best to move on from the scandal.

The 37-year-old athlete and Vonn, a 28-year-old Olympic ski racer,  finally confirmed they were a couple on Monday after months of speculation.

According to a new report, their relationship never would have become romantic had Woods not opened up about the dark details of his past infidelities.

"He confessed everything in his past to her and stuff - they're really into each other," a source told Us Weekly.

Vonn and Woods were first linked last fall.

They are said to be smitten with one another but are intent on taking their new romance slowly.

"They're a really happy couple - not living together yet," the insider added.

Nordegren is believed to have received a $100 million settlement in her divorce from Woods.

Reports earlier this year suggested the pair may have reconciled.

But Woods insisted he had moved on in his statement announcing his budding romance with the skier.

"Lindsey and I have been friends for some time, but over the last few months we have become very close and are now dating,” Woods wrote.

The pair released staged images showing them smiling as a couple in conjunction with their statements.

Both made it clear they intend to say little more about their relationship.

"We thank you for your support and for respecting our privacy," Tiger continued. "We want to continue our relationship, privately, as an ordinary couple and continue to compete as athletes."

Absolutely. I'll do whatever it takes to watch golf.

It depends on how good the service is.

If it's not on TV, I won't watch it.

What? The PGA Tour's not going to be on Sky TV?
