Welcome to our live hole-by-hole coverage of Lydia Ko's first round in the New Zealand Women's golf open at Clearwater.

The 16-year-old golfing phenomenon is a raging-hot favourite to defend the title. She was a 15-year-old amateur last year, paying just $3 at the TAB.

That's the sort of money Tiger Woods was paying to win majors during his heyday.

Ko, the world No 4 and in her first season as a fully fledged professional, tees off at 8.05am on the 10th tee, alongside Australian Stacey Keating and England's rising star, Charley Hull.

We'll update you after each hole, with Ko's round expected to finish about 12.30pm.

The top prize this week for the 54-hole Ladies European Tour event is 30,000.
