Former Kiwi international and New Zealand Warrior Krisnan Inu has been released by NRL club Canterbury to sign with French rugby union.

Paris-based Top 14 club Stade Francis tonight announced the 27-year-old had been signed as an injury replacement.

Inu, who also had a stint with Parramatta, has been inconsistent this season and has played just seven NRL games.

Despite having signed with the Bulldogs until next year, he has been granted a release by the club.
