Brisbane fullback Josh Hoffman is unwilling to face up to the prospect he has played his last game for the Broncos.

Hoffman suffered a suspected broken right leg during the second half of his side's 42-16 NRL loss to South Sydney at ANZ Stadium on Thursday night.

He will have scans today to determine the extent of the damage.

Hoffman broke the same leg against the Gold Coast in 2011, an injury which kept him out for three months.

Hoffman said he was remaining positive despite likely being sidelined for the rest of the year. The Kiwi international is also likely to miss this year's Four Nations.

''I felt something snap,'' he said.

''It's something similar to what I did against the Titans in 2011. Hopefully it's nothing too bad.

''But we'll wait and see what the scans say.''

It will be a bitter blow to Hoffman having recently reclaimed the Broncos No. 1 jersey from Ben Barba.

Hoffman, 26, is contracted to Brisbane until the end of 2015.

However, his place in the squad next year is uncertain with Anthony Milford on his way to Red Hill and persistent rumours that Darius Boyd will follow incoming coach Wayne Bennett back to Queensland.

Rival clubs will be able to negotiate with Hoffman from November 1.

He almost left the Broncos last year to take up an offer from the Bulldogs.

When asked if he might have played his last game for the club  Hoffman said: ''I know this isn't the end of me.

''I want to be a Bronco. I'll be at the Broncos until the end of the season.

''At this stage I'm here and that's where I want to be and I'm in a good place and I've got a family so I couldn't ask for much more right now.''
