Warriors hooker Aaron Heremaia is one of 14 players nominated for the NRL's coveted Ken Stephen Medal.

The award is for the player who has demonstrated ongoing and exceptional service to the game both on and off the field.

The winner will be announced at a gala dinner at the Sydney Town Hall on September 27 during Grand Final week.

Sponsor Telstra will provide $5000 to the winner and $5000 to the player’s favourite charity.

The likeable Heremaia has had a huge year after being plucked from his family’s Thames restaurant to join first garde action with the Warriors.

His form was good enough to earn him Kiwis honours in the Anzac Test and he looks a sure bet for the coming Four Nations tournament.

Right now he is concentrating on being for for the Warriors finals action that opens with a clash agains the Titans on the Gold Coast on Friday night.

Heremaia is battling an ankle injury from last Saturday’s win over the Eels in Sydney.
