New Zealand Warriors back rower Elijah Taylor will miss tonight's NRL clash with North Queensland in Townsville after his father passed away in Auckland yesterday.
Taylor arrived in Brisbane after the squad because his father Ron was admitted to Middlemore Hospital - but promptly boarded a return flight yesterday when told his loved one had died.
He was accompanied on the flight home by experienced centre Jerome Ropati, who is currently recovering from injury.
"Our deepest sympathies go out to Elijah and his family at this difficult time," said Warriors chief executive Wayne Scurrah.
The Warriors will wear black armbands as a mark of respect for Taylor and his family.
