Cross-code superstar Sonny Bill Williams now looks unlikely to play in the inaugural NRL Auckland Nines next month.

Williams' manager Khoder Nasser has told ONE News that the Roosters and Kiwis second rower won't be playing in the two-day tournament.

The statement from Nasser follows comments from legendary standoff Brad Fittler, who will be lacing up for the Roosters at the event, that he was looking forward to playing alongside the New Zealander.

Williams is understood to be focusing on the Roosters pre-season training, and playing for the Sydney glamour club against Super League champions Wigan the week after the Auckland Nines tournament.
