New Zealander Brendon Hartley has clocked the fourth fastest time after the opening qualifying session of the Macau Grand Prix.

Young Australian driver Daniel Ricciardo clocked the second fastest lap.

The recently crowned British Formula 3 champion finished behind Marcus Ericsson, who claimed provisional pole for the famous street race with a two minute 11.811 second lap.

The Swede is chasing a hat-trick of victories for his TOM team at the devilish street circuit.

Ricciardo, driving at Macau for the first time, told Autosport.com his 2:11.848 time had surpassed his expectations. Third fastest time of qualifying went to Edoardo Mortara.
