The Waikato-Bay of Plenty Magic will have a short turnaround ahead of their minor semifinal against the New South Wales Swifts in Sydney.

The trans-Tasman league has announced the match between the third and fourth teams will start on Sunday, at 4.18pm (NZ time), at Allphones Arena in Sydney's Olympic Park.

The Swifts have played just one match at that stadium this year, but it will be an intimidating fortress, with the home team drawing a competition-record regular-season crowd of 10,118 there against the Adelaide Thunderbirds in round 12.

The Magic finished the regular season in fourth place after losing to the Queensland Firebirds in Hamilton last night, meaning they face sudden death from now on and will have to win three games in Australia to take the title.

The major semifinal between the the top two teams, the Vixens and Firebirds, will be held next Monday at Melbourne's Hisense Arena, at 7.48pm (NZ time).

The winner of that match will get a week off and host the grand final, while the loser will be at home for the preliminary final against either the Swifts or the Magic.

If Magic supporters want to make the trip to Sydney this weekend, season members (and Swifts season members) will have preferential purchase of tickets from 2pm (NZ time) today.

Tickets can be bought at www.ticketek.com.au, by phoning 132 849 or at any Ticketek outlet. Magic members must use the code word MAGIC when purchasing tickets.

The pre-sale closes at 10am (NZ time) tomorrow, from which time general public tickets go on sale via the same channels.
