Silver Fern and Northern Mystics defender Anna Harrison will miss the rest of the 2014 international netball season with the announcement she is expecting her second child.

The 31-year-old recently returned to New Zealand after the Glasgow Commonwealth Games, where the Silver Ferns had to settle for a silver medal after being pummelled by Australia in the final.

Harrison will now be absent from the Constellation Cup series against Australia and two matches against England, but has no plans to retire.

She missed the Mystics' 2013 season with the birth of her first child.

Mystics chief executive Julie Paterson says the team are delighted for Anna, Craig and Isaac.

''It's a very exciting time for them all as they prepare to welcome another family member,'' she said.

''We will miss her contribution on court next year, but we're thrilled that Anna wants to stay involved in whatever capacity she can to support the Northern Mystics team.''

Silver Ferns coach Waimarama Taumaunu says Harrison is a valued, experienced team member who will be missed.

''We wish Anna all the best and look forward to her return in 2015'', she said.
