NZ swimmers fail to progress in London pool
Hayley Palmer and the men's 4x100m freestyle relay team have failed to progress in the penultimate day of swimming at London 2012.
The medley team of Gareth Kean, Glenn Snyders, Andy McMillan and Carl O'Donnell were agonisingly close to making the 4x100m final, just seven-hundredths of a second away.
But their time of 3:34.52 was good enough for ninth.
Meanwhile sprint specialist Palmer was 23rd in the 50m freestyle heats in a time of 25.47.
The standard to reach the semifinals was 25.23, less than Palmer's personal best of 25.01.
The Olympic Games are now over for all five swimmers, with Lauren Boyle the sole Kiwi left to race in this morning's 800m freestyle final.
