NZ Cricket boss White burying his head
OPINION: The plea of New Zealand Cricket's chief executive David White for the public to look forward rather than back over the latest revelations about Taylorgate are pathetic.
They are the words of a man burying his head hoping the issue will go away.
Something stinks about this whole fiasco and it is dragging the game many love into disrepute.
The whole truth is not being told and being fudged by words such as "miscommunication". How can anyone take NZC seriously?
Cricket director John Buchanan's words about his organisation lacking integrity, honesty, trust and responsibility resonate.
Shane Bond's leaked letter to NZC's board about the way Taylor was treated go right to the core of those values.
Bond is a principled man and although he claims to have put the latest issue with Mike Hesson behind him, he would not have written his letter without deeply considering the ramifications. He is embarking on an international coaching career.
People still do not know exactly what happened in that room that day in Sri Lanka when Taylor was confronted by Hesson, manager Mike Sandle and assistant coach Bob Carter.
This will continue to fester away and create disharmony inside and outside the team. This in a sport already displaying deep divisions.
Someone must be accountable for the dodgy decision-making and it should come from the top.
