Top Kiwi surfer Paige Hareb has blasted her way into the quarterfinals of the US Open in California.

Relieved at having saved her job on next year's Dream Tour after requalifying yesterday by advancing beyond the second round of this final event of the 2012 tour, the Taranaki goofy-footer continued her charge today.

Hareb posted the highest heat total in round four, scoring 14.87 for her two best waves in small conditions at Huntington Beach.

That saw her beat France’s Pauline Ado (13.76) and move through to the quarters.

Hareb will face former world champion Carissa Moore there and is guaranteed a US$6000 (NZ$7408) payday.

Opinion poll

Will Shane Cameron beat Kali Meehan on Saturday?

For sure. Cameron will knock him out.

It will be close but I think Cameron on points.

Meehan will knock him out. This is his last fight.

I'm tipping Meehan to win on points.
