A New Zealand freeskier has been hospitalised after a serious crash at the Winter X Games in Aspen.

Rose Battersby, from Taupo, crashed during a warm-up session before the Jeep Ski Slopestyle Women's final, said the NZ Snowsports Council.

According to ESPN, she suffered a lumbar spine fracture, but was moving and could feel all her extremities.

Aspen Valley Medical centre said Battersby was in a stable condition.

In the same competition last year, the 20-year-old finished ninth in the women's slopestyle competition.

Battersby said on her website it was her goal to compete at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Russia.

Opinion poll

Will Shane Cameron beat Kali Meehan on Saturday?

For sure. Cameron will knock him out.

It will be close but I think Cameron on points.

Meehan will knock him out. This is his last fight.

I'm tipping Meehan to win on points.
