Floyd Mayweather: I offered Conor McGregor $21m for a super-fight
Unbeaten boxer Floyd Mayweather claims he offered MMA star Conor McGregor US$15 million ($21 million) to take him on in a boxing fight.
"Conor McGregor keeps telling everybody he wants the fight," Mayweather told ESPN's First Take.
"Let's make it happen."
He then outlined negotiations over the past year for a fight that has long been touted but has so far been nothing more than a war of words between the two massive sporting egos.
"We tried to make the McGregor fight. My number was a guaranteed US$100m. We offered him US$15m," Mayweather said.
Irishman McGregor has previously said he should be paid US$100m to fight Mayweather.
The American seemed to scoff at that.
"We're the A-side and I don't know how much he has made but I'm pretty sure he hasn't made US$2m in an MMA bout," he told ESPN.
"We can talk about splitting the PPV but we are the A-side. How can a guy talk about US$20m or US$30m if he's not made eight or nine? Is the fight going to happen? We're working on it."
McGregor is currently taking a break after winning his second UFC belt late last year.
Mayweather hasn't fought since September 2015 when he stepped away with a 49-0 record. He has moved into boxing promotion.
