New Zealand mixed martial arts fighter Mark Hunt will headline the first ultimate fighting championship (UFC) event to take place in Brisbane on December 7.
Hunt, a former K-1 world champion, will fight Brazilian heavyweight Antonio "Bigfoot" Silva in a five-round fight to be held at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre.
Hunt holds a 4-2 UFC record and took on former heavyweight champion Junior dos Santos in his most recent fight in Las Vegas on May 25.
The 39-year-old Kiwi veteran lost the fight, but earned a Fight of the Night bonus in a torrid, entertaining affair with the Brazilian.
Fellow-New Zealander James Te Huna is understood to be pursuing a fight on Hunt's card. The Darfield-born Sydney-based light-heavyweight called out Brazilian Maurico "Shogun" Rua.
A third Kiwi, middleweight Dylan Andrews, recently made his full UFC debut, beating Papy Abedi in Indianapolis two weeks ago.
