Cathy Freeman unveiled as Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games ambassador
Olympic legend Cathy Freeman has been named as the sixth Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games ambassador.
Freeman famously won the 400m at the Sydney 2000 Olympics and is a four-time Commonwealth Games gold medallist.
She has kept a relatively low profile since her retirement in 2003.
The central Queensland product established the Freeman Foundation in 2007, working with remote indigenous communities to help close the gap.

Her win in the 2000 Olympics made her a worldwide star after lighting the torch at the opening ceremony and taking a victory lap draped in the Aboriginal and Australian flags.
She joins Sally Pearson, Cameron McEvoy, Anna Meares, Kurt Fearnley and Laura Geitz as official ambassadors for the Games, which will be held in April 2018.
