Monkey King put two years of hard luck in the New Zealand Trotting Cup behind him at Addington today to storm down the outside and take out the $1 million feature.

The Brendon Hill trained Robert Famularo owned and Ricky May driven gelding was undeniable in his finishing burst.

May had Monkey King situated perfectly throughout the whole race and only had to angle his way clear on the home turn before storming down the outside.

Bettor's Strike ran home solidly for Dexter Dunn to finish second while Smoken Up fought resolutely for third.
