A dominant second half performance helped propel the New Zealand women's rugby team to a 38-3 victory over Australia in Rotorua today.

It was the perfect way for the Black Ferns to begin their four-game international women's rugby series, which also includes tests against Samoa and Canada.

New Zealand took a 11-3 advantage into halftime after scoring the only try of the first half through skipper Amiria Rule, while Australia's Oneata Schwalger was in the sinbin.

The Black Ferns class shone through in the second half as the Australians started to fall off tackles.

They added four unanswered tries through loose forward Rawinia Everitt, fullback SelicaWiniata, winger Honey Hireme and midfielder Huriana Manual.

New Zealand's next game is against Samoa at Auckland's Eden Park on Saturday in the curtainraiser to the All Blacks first test against England.
