Matt Todd is the only current All Black to be released to play for the Crusaders in their match against England on Tuesday night.

All Blacks coach Steve Hansen has made an agreement with Crusaders coach Todd Blackadder that flanker Todd, who has been named on the bench, can play up to 40 minutes at AMI Stadium before returning the national squad ahead of the third test in Hamilton.

Lock Dominic Bird wasn’t considered because of a recent illness , Ryan Crotty was deemed to have had too much of a heavy workload this season and Colin Slade just wasn’t released. Other Crusaders players in the All Blacks are expected to be involved in the final test. Israel Dagg is injured.

Blackadder has listed George Whitelock as captain, starting him at openside flanker. Joe Moody, who hasn’t played a first class-match since breaking a leg in last year’s NPC final for Canterbury, is in the reserves.

Lock Joel Everson will make his Crusaders debut when he starts alongside Jimmy Tupou and Scott Barrett, the younger brother of All Blacks playmaker Beauden, has been named on the bench.

Crusaders:  Tom Taylor, Johnny McNicholl, Reynold Lee-Lo, Kieron Fonotia, Nafi Tuitavake, Tyler Bleyendaal, Willi Heinz, Luke Whitelock, George Whitelock (captain), Jordan Taufua, Joel Everson, Jimmy Tupou, Nepo Laulala, Corey Fynn, Tim Perry. Reserves: Ben Funnell, Joe Moody, Siate Tokolahi, Scott Barrett, Matt Todd, Andy Ellis, Adam Whitelock, Rob Thompson.
