A stray firework injured three people, one seriously, at the second Bledisloe Cup rugby test between the All Blacks and Australia at Eden Park.

"It was after the haka, before the first whistle," photographer Ross Setford said. 

"All of a sudden three people came out of the crowd bleeding. A woman was bleeding from the right side of her face, another man was holding up his jacket.

"There was another man but he was blocked by the crowd."

Setford said police then mopped up the blood. When asked to comment, a police spokesman said he was unaware of any incident at the park.

One spectator tweeted:

A spokeswoman for St John ambulance said one person was transferred to Auckland City Hospital from Eden Park in a serious condition.

A hospital spokesman said the patient was in a stable condition in the emergency department at 10pm.
