Former All Black captain Tana Umaga is coming home to take up a new role with the Counties Manukau team.

Umaga will take up a player-assistant coach role for the 2010 and 2011 domestic championships.

Counties Manukau Football Union head coach Milton Haig said part of Umaga’s role will be helping coach and develop the young players.

Umaga said he is pleased to be returning to New Zealand.

“My family and I are excited to be returning home and I am looking forward to the challenge that lies ahead."
