The babes have been called to arms. Between them they have 15 test caps and just three starts, but on Saturday night Aaron Cruden, Israel Dagg and Victor Vito finally get the chance to show they're grown-up All Blacks.
Cruden, we knew was going to get his first chance to start a test for the All Blacks, his promotion clearly signposted once Dan Carter needed ankle surgery. But this morning coach Graham Henry confirmed that fellow rookies Dagg and Vito would join him in the run-on XV to tackle the Wallabies at ANZ Stadium.
Suddenly the most experienced All Blacks outfit in over a century of test rugby has a little bit of a green tinge about it.
Scary? Just a little bit. But exciting? You bet.
All three of these young men are players of the future and potential long-term All Black starters beyond next year's World Cup. In many ways Saturday night will be just a little glimpse of the future, as well as the chance to round out a very satisfactory present.
There's an element of risk about the selections, but they're also calculated moves to hand some backup men some much-needed experience.
Cruden is 20 and all five of his test appearances this year – 60 minutes in total – have come off the bench; Dagg is 22 and has made two starts among five outings all told; while Vito is 23 and has made just one previous start among his five caps.
Backs coach Wayne Smith said the team had full faith in Cruden stepping up to the mark.
"He's composed. He's got an inner confidence. The players have confidence in him, they know he's tough mentally and will put his body on the line."
And Smith said Dagg had already proved himself worthy of this promotion.
"We think he's up to the level. He's certainly shown coming off the bench he can have a big influence on a game and we're confident he'll do well."
The starting XV features five changes from the team that beat South Africa 29-22 in Soweto last month. As well as Cruden for the recovering Carter, Dagg replacing Joe Rokocoko on the left wing and Vito coming in for Jerome Kaino on the blindside flank, Piri Weepu comes in at halfback for Jimmy Cowan and Owen Franks is restored at tighthead prop in place of his brother
On the bench new chum Colin Slade gets the chance to make a test debut while Rene Ranger comes in as outside back cover and lock Anthony Boric replaces Sam Whitelock.
Henry predicted the Wallabies would "come out firing" but is confident his rejigged team can continue their stranglehold on their trans-Tasman rivals.
It will be a special test for Richie McCaw, too, with the skipper leading the All Blacks for the 52nd time, surpassing Sean Fitzpatrick's record mark.
"Richie is an outstanding leader and, in my opinion, one of the best players in world rugby," added Henry.
The All Blacks are shooting for a record 10th consecutive victory over Australia, and to extend their test winning streak to 15. They can also become the first side to achieve a 6-0 sweep of the Tri-Nations.

If its played at pace and ball in hand Cruden will split them wide open and Nonu/Dagg will be there to close it out! Only problem is Mr Weepu might want to cash in as well and not give Aaron as much space to work his magic.
Anyhow, I'll be there and not too upset if the Auzzies win.
It's a good team. Dagg deserves a run and will be great on attack. As long as he plays the right lines defensively (anyone remember Jane getting caught out last year against France??). I hope Cruden does well - he can't be any worse than Stephen Donald - can he???
It's still a strong forward pack which is where the AB's have dominated this year.
I think it's one of the weakest benches the AB's have had for a while, Kaino and Cowan aside. I'm not convinced about Ranger yet especially given the selectors like the Waikato guy with shoulder probs who's name escapes me at the moment.
Go the AB's!!!
Vito is a bit over rated but he has such a big upside as far as potential goes... Why not give him a shot. Dagg is going great, enough to keep Roks out all together, but he's Teds boy;) Crudens defence will be tested as Oz like to run inside runners.. Richie and Read best be up for it.. Should be a great game
Dagg for Slowcacoco, huge improvement, Vito as good with more mobility, Owen Franks better, Weepu better pass, Cruden, obviously no DC but a talent with a big heart.
@son son, McAllister is yesterdays hero, now zero, Brett muhaha, r u serious? The guy is no where!
@ the clown lovers. Stephen Brett ranked 4th overall in this years super 14. Aaron Cruden ranked 34th. Just watch Brett carve up this week and see how good he is.
WHAT A PERFECT WAY TO END A TOURNAMENT THAT HAS LIFTED AND BROKEN HEARTS ALL OVER,14 YEARS OF WORLD CLASS RUGBY,SO FAR ADVANCED THAN ANY OTHER TOURNAMENT TO DATE. 1996 WELLINGTON.. ALL BLACKS 43 V WALLABIES 6 2010 SYDNEY..WALLABIES _ V ALL BLACKS _ TWO RECORDS UP FOR GRABS FOR THE A.Bs..1..6 STRAIGHT WINS.. 2.. THIS ACHIEVEMENT MADE CAN NOT BE BROKEN WE WILL BE SOLE OWNERS OF THIS FEAT...PROVE ME WRONG!!!
Why are there so many people that will watch the game on the night happily but will come on here when the team is picked and have a moan about it? To all those SUPPORTIVE of the team you guys rock. The love of the game is not about nit-picking the players, its supporting the team. There is a lot of support within the ABs as well, especially in the back row. I would not doubt Cruden to be honest. He is surrounded by what I see as the best backline in the world, as well as that he has played with the likes of Weepu, Jane, Nonu and Smith in the Canes. There is nothing to doubt here this backline is going to be as explosive as it has always been this season. As for Cooper walking all over Cruden? Lets see on the night. I dont see Cooper as a consistantly awesome performer. He is capable of breaking the line himself as well as setting up others to do the same. SA missed a HUGE amount of tackles last week, and with players like Conrad Smith rapping around your ankles I dont see that happening again. Not much to say about Dagg, you simply cant judge a player like him. Explosive appearances off the bench and a definate long term prospect pre-world cup. In the forwards the ABs i think will dominate quite easily. I havent seen the OZ team yet but Ma'afu and Fainga?? Really?? These guys are not even at the same level. If there is anyone who will give us trouble from OZ it will be Pocock or Beale. Those two have emerged with some dominance over the trinations. McCaw can handle Pocock, but Beale needs to be shut down so he cannot have the opportunity to stretch his legs. If he cant do that he is useless unlike other players such as Giteau and Ashley-Cooper.
Good to see all you KIwis FINALLY back the All Blacks....it only seems to happen when they win!! Pretty disappointing really!!
Jeez Son Son - Brett? Did you watch the game last Friday - he had SBW and Fruen outside him, two of the most blockbusting midfielders around and he didnt or couldnt use them. Brett would be a long way down the line of 1st 5s - I'd go for James Wilson or Donald over him Personally I would have gone for McAlister over Slade but not a bad option to give Slade a chance

Tonight's match represents enough elements to prove that it's not just a dead rubber. If the All Blacks win, they'll be the first (and looking like only, depending on whether or not SANZAR can get Argentina set up in our competition) team to go undefeated in the six game Tri Nations format. They'll also beat the long standing winning streak over Australia of nine games between 1936-47 which they're currently equal with. On top of all this tonight's match will see Richie McCaw become the most experienced captain, finally eclipsing Sean Fitzpatrick's 51 tests as captain.
So tonight's match will be a very interesting one to watch. A lot of people wonder just how we will do without one of or either Dan Carter or Richie McCaw. Last year's results were probably attributed to both McCaw and Carter being MIA through injury at some point and I believe that lead to people saying we're rubbish without Carter or McCaw. Tonight is Aaron Cruden's chance to show everyone that he is capable of playing at test match level. He has a number of experienced players around him to that should help his confidence immensely.
