Senior New Zealand rugby officials were mugged by motorcycle-borne assailants outside the All Blacks hotel in Buenos Aires early today (NZT).
The New Zealand Rugby Union confirmed the incident, which involved chairman Mike Eagle and board director Gerard van Tilborg.
The muggers took a Rolex watch from van Tilborg but nothing from Eagle. Neither man was hurt.
The team had been getting ready to leave the hotel for the airport at the time, after the All Blacks' 54-15 win over Argentina yesterday.
Van Tilborg is continuing on to Johannesburg where the All Blacks are playing the Springboks next weekend, while Eagle was scheduled to return to this country.
The mugging was reported to police.
