Junior ABs have every right to replace Maori 20 questions that answer themselves Luke's blunder sign of the times South Africans would be no great loss 14 ways to make this season Super Is there another coach out there who can do a Deans? Why didn't Tana get a parachute earlier? Tietjens has the X-factor like no other These guys have got points to prove Deans spells double trouble for NZRU

OPINION: Time for a few curly questions now that another big rugby year is drawing to a close - and the sport isn't short of them as it prepares for an intriguing 2009.

1 - Dan Carter gets hit by an ugly tackle in his first match for Perpignan. Should we be surprised?

2 - How long can the IRB keep promoting their Pacific Nations Cup when it gets downgraded each year by the participants?

3 - What odds would the TAB place on Carl Hayman returning early to NZ? Where there's smoke there's usually fire.

4 - Why would Taranaki want to invest in Hayman when he will probably hardly play for them?

5 - Still, he'd have to be top of the NZRU list for a star to steal back wouldn't he?

6 - Given the global woes does the 2011 Rugby World Cup suddenly seem like a hospital pass?

7 - Countering that, is there a better sports administrator around New Zealand right now than Martin Snedden?

8 - Who is sleeping easier now - Graham Henry or Robbie Deans?

9 - What chance of Tasman breaking even next year? None?

10 - Why does Scotland have a bigger and better rugby stadium than New Zealand?

11 - Ditto Ireland, England and Wales.

12 - Still fuming or just scratching your head over Richie McCaw's absence from the major rugby awards this year?

13 - Doesn't it grate to hear All Blacks legend Sean Fitzpatrick becoming an apologist for English rugby?

14 - Or is that just a clever man playing to his market?

15 - Are the Super 14 "away" strips anything more than a money-making exercise?

16 - Should Tana Umaga feel threatened or flattered by Jake White's presence?

17 - What's happened to New Zealand refereeing standards on the international scene?

18 - Sale promotes their match tickets at sale prices - sign of the times?

19 - Do you reckon Todd Blackadder is feeling a little bit of pressure?

20 - Or do the Hurricanes have more heat on them now that the Deans magic has disappeared from the Crusaders?

Got a rhetorical question of your own relating to rugby in 2008? Let's hear it below.

Question 21 Why does Sean Fitzpatrick refer to England as " WE " whilst commenting on their game vs Pacific Ilanders at half time..??

Couldn't agree with you more!! Growing up in the Mighty Wairarapa Bush as a Samoan I rarely saw any Island school boys in our region because we were in the Wop wops, but when we had the chance to play schools from Wellington and Auckland then you'd be mistaken to think that you were playing the Samoan or Tongan Secondary schools teams full of kids who looked like they should've been in the Manu Samoa or Tongan National squads...to say that NZ has poached these kids is a real unfair comment and incorrect as Harry has pointed out, most of these kids came here for an education and just excelled in their rugby. If you look at Joe Rokocoko for example you will find he was not plucked out of Suva or wherever he was born but out of St. Kents college here in Auckland, exactly the same with Jerome Kaino. Jonah Lomu from Wesley? John Afoa, Papakura High? Sitiveni Sivivatu, Wesley? Just some prime examples Fiji Boy!!

rhetorical question: Is it possible that in the long run, the NZRU, its players and fans, and indeed anyone who has anything to do with rugby, would have gained a lot more from the world cup being held in Japan? (written by a very keen AB supporter) In these financial times, just imagine the size of the market that we are missing out on.

The Tasman Rugby Union have made huge strides in the right direction this year with former Nelson Bays CEO Peter Barr back on board. Look forward to seeing Duncan eating his words in 12 months time.

On point number 8, I think they will both be sleeping soundly. Henry has turned disaster into short term success and Robbie has blooded the next generation of Australian super stars for the long term.

When thinking about this, we need to remeber our history. We are great at winning in non RWC years and blow it in that final year with a bunch of ill prepared men, many of whom are either carrying injuries or are past their prime.

Fijiboy #1 - I love island rugby and the added edge PI guys give the All Blacks.

But I think you're drawing a pretty long bow with Buncey - I think you'd find Auckland and Harbour did far more for his development into a wrold class centre than Samoa did.

As a guy who was completely NZ based playing for Samoa was a means to an end, as it is for many other NZ-Based island boys.

To turn your question back onto you - should the island unions pay a fee to NZ schools, clubs, provinces, franchises for the development their guys are given here in NZ???

The "stealing our players" line gets a bit boring when very very few of the PI All Blacks came to NZ for rugby alone.

21. Did Munster v. the ABs show that people want and will pay to watch proper tours again? 22. But do you think the TV networks and Unions will wake up to this and give us what we want and are willing to pay for?

Who downgraded the Pacific Cup?

Aus weren't in the first edition, and the Jnr ABs are a more appropriate side than the Maori. The Maori are full of good players, but surely it's better for the PIs & Japan to be facing the whole spectrum of NZ talent (even if only the 2nd best).

However given the scrapping of the Heartland XV, perhaps they should introduce a quota of at least 1 Heartland player in the match day 22?

As for my rhetorical question - will the new coaching regime be the Crusaders excuse when the Highlanders spank them again next year?
