Samoa's 2011 Rugby World Cup captain Mahonri Schwalger has re-signed with the Chiefs.

The hooker, who has played in three World Cups and captained Samoa in their historic win against the Wallabies last year, has signed on for a further two years with the current Super Rugby competition leaders.

Chiefs coach Dave Rennie said the 32-year-old Schwalger's experience, skill and leadership qualities are valuable to the franchise.
