Transplanted Kiwi Steve Walsh will referee Saturday night's Super Rugby final between the Chiefs and Sharks in Hamilton.
Walsh, who has resurrected his career across the Tasman after being adopted by the Australian system, has been handed the glamour appointment, providing some neutrality to the officiating.
"Steve thoroughly deserves this appointment to the Final, having been arguably our most consistent performer in the middle, throughout this competition," Sanzar refereeing boss Lyndon Bray said.
"Steve is in great form and he will contribute to what should be an outstanding final."
Walsh controlled the all-South African semifinal between the Sharks and Stormers in Durban.
South African referee Craig Joubert had the whistle in Friday night’s Kiwi derby semifinal between the Chiefs and Crusaders.
Joubert has been handed one of the touchlines for the final along with New Zealand's Keith Brown.
Kiwi Garratt Williamson has been named TMO.
