Victor Matfield has been appointed the forwards and attack coach of his former Super rugby team, the Bulls.
The retired Springbok lock was part of a restructured coaching team announced by the three-time Super rugby champions.
Alongside Matfield, former Bulls and South Africa first five Derick Hougaard, who also played club rugby in England, has been hired as skills and kicking coach.
Matfield worked as a lineout consultant for the Bulls last season after retiring from all rugby at the end of the 2011 World Cup. He played 110 tests for the Springboks, winning the 2007 World Cup and Tri-Nations titles in 2004 and 2009.
Bulls head coach Frans Ludeke said of Matfield: "I am very excited to work with one of the sharpest rugby minds in the business."
