Former Hurricanes halfback Chris Eaton has joined the Western Force on a short-term Super Rugby contract while Brett Sheehan remains sidelined.
Sheehan is still recovering from an ankle injury suffered playing for the Wallabies against Italy in Florence in November, but he’s likely to back on the field sometime next month.
Eaton, 28, played 27 Super Rugby matches across two seasons for the Hurricanes in 2011 and 2012.
He joins fellow Kiwi Alby Mathewson and Mick Snowden, who made his Super Rugby debut against the Kings in South Africa on Saturday night, as the current halfback options for the Force.
Sheehan is expected to be available for selection next month.
Eaton has begun training in Perth and his contract with the Force will extend until Sheehan is available to resume in the playing squad.
