The Chiefs have made four changes to their starting lineup for Friday night's key Super Rugby clash against the Crusaders in Christchurch.

But interestingly there is only change from the starting XV which the Chiefs fielded against the same opposition at Waikato Stadium back on May 24.

The changes to the run-on side that played against the Hurricanes in Hamilton last Friday night see Ben Tameifuna swap with All Black Ben Afeaki as tighthead prop, another All Black Sam Cane come into the side in place of Tanerau Latimer, Charlie Ngatai replace half-centurion Tim Nanai-Williams at centre and Patrick Osborne get the nod on the right wing in place of Lelia Masaga.

Afeaki, Latimer and Nanai-Williams all drop to the bench, which Masaga drops out of the match 22 completely.

The only change to the Chiefs team that last played against the Crusaders comes in the No 7 jersey where Cane usurps Latimer.

Chiefs: Robbie Robinson, Patrick Osborne, Charlie Ngatai, Bundee Aki, Asaeli Tikoirotuma, Aaron Cruden, Tawera Kerr-Barlow, Matt Vant Leven, Sam Cane, Liam Messam, Brodie Retallick, Craig Clarke (c), Ben Tameifuna, Hika Elliot, Pauliasi Manu. Reserves: Mahonri Schwalger, Ben Afeaki, Mike Fitzgerald, Tanerau Latimer, August Pulu, Andrew Horrell, Tim Nanai-Williams.

What do you make of the Blues signing Jimmy Cowan?

It's a great move. His experience is needed.

The jury's still out for me. Let's wait and see.

It's a desperate move. Respectfully, Cowan is past it.

The Blues have bigger worries than halfback.
