Beauden Barrett shifted to fullback for Hurricanes' match against Cheetahs video

Hurricanes coach Chris Boyd explains moving Beauden Barrett to fullback is part of a rest and rotation policy.

Beauden Barrett will play at fullback for the Hurricanes this weekend as coach Chris Boyd rotates his squad.

The All Blacks first-five will start in the 15 jersey against the Cheetahs at Westpac Stadium in Wellington on Saturday as Otere Black claims Barrett's spot in the No 10 jersey.

The move allows Barrett's brother Jordie to have a break on the bench after appearing in every match for the Hurricanes in his first season of Super Rugby, including starting the last seven.

Jordie Barrett has been rotated to the bench after playing every game for the Hurricanes this season.

"We have some guys who have shouldered a particularly big load through the first 10 matches, and other guys who, through injury have not had a lot of time."

Boyd said the changes were not an indication of taking the Cheetahs lightly.

"The Cheetahs are a particularly dangerous team that can score tries from anywhere and also have a big forward pack up front. We know they will bring a lot to the match."

Boyd has made three other personnel changes to the team that lost to the Crusaders last weekend, with lock Sam Lousi set to make his starting debut in the second row as Mark Abbott takes a break. Wes Goosen replaces Cory Jane on the right wing, while Ben May returns at loose head prop for Chris Eves.
