BINMAN: All Blacks and Chiefs superstar Liam Messam helping his brother out on a Boxing Day rubbish run.

So this is what Liam Messam gets up to in his time away from rugby.

After a hectic season with the All Blacks, the loose forward doesn't arrive back at Chiefs training until next month, but in the meantime has found himself running the streets of Hamilton and picking up neighbourhood rubbish bags.

The 29-year-old and his younger brother came off the bench to take to the Waste Management truck on Boxing Day after former teammate Keith Lowen went down with injury.

Messam posted this on his Twitter account:

Lowen was cut by a piece of glass, leaving the one-test All Black with a nasty, deep gash on his leg.

If your putting out your rubbish and there's broken glass PLEASE wrap it in newspaper. My Boss man not happy #kefs 😂 pic.twitter.com/lWUqgmhvlH

While helping to keep the city looking beautiful, the work is also good fitness training for Messam as he would be lifting between 12 and 15 tonnes a day.

As if that's not enough to keep in shape, Messam writes he's also doing Crossfit.
