Golf star Rory McIlroy has an All Blacks icon backing him at the US Masters this week.

All Blacks first-five eighth Dan Carter is in Augusta, Georgia, to watch the first men's major championship of the year and ran into two-time major winner McIlroy from Northern Ireland at the gym today.

He tweeted the following: 

Carter had earlier tweeted:

Today's practice round was canned after two hours because of heavy rain, the first time in 11 years that the Monday practice session at Augusta had been washed out.

Carter, who is on sabbatical, has done plenty of travelling in the past week; he attended the Hong Kong sevens, travelled to New York and has now popped up at Augusta.
