Kiwi tennis ace Marina Erakovic is through to the second round of the French Open after outclassing Ukrainian opponent Nadiya Kichenok 6-2 6-1 in Paris overnight. 

Erakovic, the world No 61, took just 33 minutes to win the first set before needing another 26 to close out the match. 

Her 22-year-old rival entered the year's second major ranked 115th in the world. 

Last year, Erakovic recorded her best finish at Roland Garros, exiting in the third round. 

But with a second round clash against No 5 seed, Petra Kvitova of the Czech Republic, looming, she will have to be at her best to match last year's heroics.
