Marina Erakovic's US Open involvement is over after a second round doubles loss at Flushing Meadows on Friday (local time).

Erakovic and playing partner, Spaniard Arantxa Parra Santonja were beaten 7-6(5) 3-6 3-6 by the 12th-seeded Spanish pair of Garbine Muguruza and Carla Suarez Navarro on Court 4.

Last year, Erakovic reached the third round at the US Open, while the Kiwi No 1 and Parra Santonja reached the quarterfinals at the French Open this year.

In a match of abundant break points, which last 1 hour 54 minutes, neither pair was able to take advantage - with Erakovic and Parra Santonja converting 2-of-5 break chances, while Muguruza and Suarez Navarro grabbed only 5-of-12.
