The New Zealand women's tennis team face a must-win tie against Japan at the Fed Cup in Kuala Lumpur today after a disappointing 2-1 loss to Korea yesterday.

Marina Erakovic's poor form continued in the first match of yesterday's tie, with Jin A Lee dishing out a 6-1 6-3 thrashing.

New Zealand's number one Sacha Jones followed up Erakovic's loss with one of her own, going down 6-1 6-0 to So Jung Kim.

The pair fought back in the doubles to take the match against Na-Ri Kim and Min Hwa Yu 6-4 6-4.

New Zealand must now beat Japan this afternoon to have a chance at winning their pool and advancing to the world group two playoff.
