That outfit Venus Williams wore in the first round of the French Open was all ''about illusion'', the American said after defeating Patty Schnyder 6-3, 6-3.

Spectators in the stands at Court Suzanne Lenglen yesterday gasped as Williams's short dress flew up during play.

But it was some type of skin-toned underwear.

"The outfit was about illusion, and that's been a lot my motif this year, illusion," Venus, who turns 30 next month, dreamily told reporters.

Williams said it may make another appearance, although she does bring eight to 10 outfits to each tournament.
