Albania - the most amazing place
In June last year I was lucky enough to spend two weeks in Albania during my trip through Eastern Europe.
Of all the countries that I have visited, none stand out as much as Albania did.
The history, which is almost unknown outside of the country, the food, the beautiful scenery... the place had everything.
From getting to drive on the road that the Top Gear presenters made famous (or infamous ), to swimming in the the most pristine unpolluted water in the world, to walking around the oldest Roman amphitheatre found outside of Italy ( Dated around 20BC ), Albania had it all. And cheap.
I paid 70 cents for a litre of beer and less than $4 for a huge meal.
There were three places in particular that stood out: the port city of Durres, the oldest city in Albania, Berat and Himare Village on the Ionian coast.
There is a lot of potential in Albania and you can see the possibilities. I can't wait to go back and see the changes that have occurred. They will happen.
